The 3-storey building will have wide spaces designed for accessibility and multi-purpose use. Aside from housing the offices and staff quarters, it will have training rooms, materials production room, a prayer room and dormitory. It will have a covered sidewalk to serve the community against the heat and rain. The parking lot will double as a basketball area (as we are noticed that the people in the barangay are playing on the streets).

The fierce passion of a brother to stand up for his oppressed blind sister ignited the beginnings of the Christian Foundation for the Deaf and Blind. CFDB was founded in 1985 by Judge Abraham Cana with two educators - Ruth Santos whose passion was to teach students with hearing impairment and Jesus Sabandal, a Christian and co-teacher of Ms. Ruth, who share her passion for persons with disabilities. In the early years of its operations, CFDB focused on assisting hearing and visually impaired children through training in sign language, orientation and mobility skills, as well as Braille reading and writing. In 2006, CFDB saw the need to extend its ministry to people with all forms of disability, their families and the wider community. Along with this came a restructure and a new name, the Christian Foundation for Persons with Disability, Inc. (CFPD). This transformation saw service delivery and programming center around three aspects: • breaking down barriers in the community • building skills and enhancing opportunities through training and development, and • ensuring the rights of people with disability are upheld. This change was seen as vital to enable CFPD to work towards achieving its vision of a society where persons with disabilities enjoy full participation and access to available resources to reach their potential. Our name banners our DNA – that of a Christian. Without Jesus Christ, there is no real change. With Christ introduced in lives of persons with disabilities and their families, they are given more than just skills. They are introduced to a victorious and eternal life. In the 31 years, CFPD has helped more than 100,000 persons with disabilities and their families improve their quality of life. The support enabled them to become positive contributors to society. More than that, we have troves of stories of how knowing Jesus changed lives of families and generations; how pain and suffering became joy and comfort; how disappointments and defeat were victories and blessings in disguise.

Enabling people. Working together. Breaking down barriers.

CFPD engages community-based rehabilitation (CBR) as the strategy to support full participation and inclusion of persons with disabilities in Negros Island (Occidental & Oriental), Philippines.

The vision of an Advocacy and Training Center. The work is in two fronts – first, to educate and equip persons with disabilities with skills to be competent and confident in their abilities; second and the more important work, is to change the hearts and minds of our people towards persons with disabilities.
